ABOUT US

Established in 2010, our aim was to bring professionalism, integrity and reliability to the residential lettings and management sector. We are an independent, family-run business - not a franchise or a branch of a national firm - and our business depends on customer satisfaction. We have grown organically since our beginnings, and let and manage a stock of property on behalf of clients all over Shropshire.

We chose to be regulated from the outset, long before any kind of regulation of the private rented sector became mandatory. As members of Propertymark we abide by their conduct and membership rules.

Membership of The Property Ombudsman further demonstrates our commitment to the highest of professional standards, requiring us to put our clients - both landlords and tenants – best interests' at the heart of everything we do.

Both Richard and Jo have worked in the property sector throughout their professional careers, and bring different specialisms to Bluestone Lettings.

Richard Lewington

Since attaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing at Birmingham City University, Richard has gained over 25 years' experience within housing.

Before taking the leap to set up his own business, Richard gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in housing management working for Housing Associations in London and the Midlands. He was latterly Area Manager of Waterloo Housing Association in Birmingham and Head of Housing at South Shropshire Housing Association.

Richard is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing, the professional body for housing in the UK, and whose objective is ‘for everyone to have a decent …home in a thriving, safe, community.' With his background in social housing, Richard brings fairness, objectivity and integrity to his role, to ensure that tenants live in a safe, pleasant environment; this ensures that tenants are satisfied, which in turn strengthens the landlord and tenant relationship and keeps both parties to the letting happy, and achieving their individual goals – a hassle-free investment for the landlord and a safe and comfortable home for the tenant.

Richard is an avid participator and fan of sports – having a life-long love of playing and watching football he lives through the highs and lows of Brighton and Hove Albion football club, as well as his son's football. He is captain of Longden Tennis Clubs third team and loves his time with his family and getting them lost on adventures in the Shropshire Hills and further afield!

Richard loves his music and is a regular gig-and festival-goer, despite his advancing years!

Jo Lewington

Jo qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1993 after gaining a degree in surveying at Nottingham Trent University and completing two years of postgraduate training in practice in London and Birmingham.

Initially working in commercial property, Jo specialised in the leisure and licensed property sectors working in both private practice for clients, and as in-house surveyor for regional brewer, Eldridge Pope in Dorset. With specialisms in property valuation, agency and landlord and tenant, Jo is a stickler for ensuring that best practice is adhered to at all times.

After relocating back to the Midlands after starting her family, Jo decided to refocus her career on the residential property sector, which meant she could work closer to home and have more flexibility to juggle family and working life. She completed necessary training to undertake residential survey and valuation work, for Green and Company and Burley Browne in Sutton Coldfield; her knowledge of building pathology is invaluable when it comes to completing property inspections and ensuring landlords investments are maintained.

Jo also has a PGCE in higher education and has lectured in surveying, property management and valuation at Greenwich University and The College of Estate Management throughout her career.

Outside of work, Jo is kept busy with her three children and dog, and loves nothing better than getting out into the Shropshire hills and finding a pub at the end of a long walk! She loves all sports, both taking part and watching including running, yoga and more recently, cricket and is at her happiest on the sidelines cheering her childrens' football, cricket and netball teams on.

Jo shares Richards' love of music and dabbles with playing the piano and accordion when she has the chance.
